Up on Blue Ridge Parkway,VA

A week of beauty, rest and a loving husband. We started out heading toward the south end of Blue Ridge Parkway and had a layover on the Shanandoah ranch in VA. After a five night stay and a day trip on the north end of the Ridge, Skyline Drive, we headed to Williamsburg, VA. Had a great time on our much needed getaway.

Tristan's first birthday

The trip to Tulsa was wonderful. We spent time with not only Tristan on his birthday, but we got to be with Sarah and KC. Friday night was the football game, Saturday was party time for Tristan and Sunday was party time for KC. Miss them already.

It's really sad I haven't posted anything for such a long while. But I hope to change things.......
This year has brought so many blessing to our family. Don has settled into retirement and I have accepted the fact that I need to work full time for another 5-10 years. We may have to revisit that in about 5 years. Part time will be an option... I hope.
The kids are on their way to great and wonderful adult lives. Micah graduated from Auburn, and both he and Monica are working and living
in Birmingham. They are doing great and we get to visit with them more often. Love that fact!! Their apartment is real cute and both have added their touch to the place. Micah , larger flat panel TV and Monica all the color and pictures. Wes and Hillary are doing good. They have been through many, many trials and have alway
s come out the other side blessed. No baby yet...but the Lord is good and I know there is something amazing in their future. Wes got to the point of being admitted to the hospital for Ulcerative Colitis. He and Hillary have had job and health trials since May and they took their toll on Wes. He got down to 111 pounds and couldn't seem to turn it around. With the help of many Docs and a great Nurse (Hillary), he has gained back to 130+ pounds. Oh, and he will be Head BB Coach at the kids old school, Weaver High! Aren't things strange and wonderful? KC, Sarah and Tristian are still in Tulsa. That is something I can't change and don't know if I would. Sarah is close to her mother in Tulsa and I know that means a lot to her. But I miss them and wish I could be with them more. I remember when we had to make many a trip while KC was at college. I loved those road trips. Sitting out in the cold rain and watching him play football. Then getting up on Sunday morning and going to Cracker Barrel and making the long drive home. You might think I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not. I loved it. Now we go to see him coach and visit with his family, (our family), Sarah and TD. Tristan will be a year old this month...and we will be there.
I love my family so much. I just hope they all, (Don, Hillary, Wes, KC, Sarah, Micah and Monica) know how proud I am of them. And how much I love them. They are my world!!!

Tristan ringing in the new year

The new year came in with Tristan being the only one awake and ready to party. Hillary, Wes, Poppa and I were headed to bed hours before the fireworks went off at Midnight. Sarah and KC had no choice but to join Tristan. It was a long night for the three of them. Happy New and wishes of joy, love and happiness to all. MeeMee

My family

These past few weeks have made my heart jump for joy and at time just break. I have found that my greatest love is not my nursing career or my beautiful house that my Husband has provided. It is my family. As I look at each and everyone of them, I can't help but cry. The joy that fills my heart is overwhelming. I have been blessed to have a husband that loves and cares for me during both good, great and bad time. He is a man of God and a father of strength and wisdom. He is everything I hoped and prayed for 30 years ago. My Children, Hillary, KC, and Micah were icing on the cake. They have made us proud over and over again. Each of them have accomplished so much in their life so far. And they have so much more life to live. Now that each of them have married, our family seems complete. And that's what makes me cry. (Tears of joy) Most families have concerns with at least one spouse that is chosen by their children ... Not Me. The addition of the Wes ,Sarah and Monica were a gift from God. They seem to blend in as they were our own children from the time we first met each one of them. They all are different, but yet, the same. We laugh and cry together. The times that we are all together are so special.
So, for the last two weeks we have had our children around us. We have laughed at each other and with each other. We have cried, both for loved ones that are not here with us and during the celebration of their father's retirement dinner. We hug, we joke, but most of all we love. As the new year approaches, I can not help but think of all that is ahead of us. We became Poppa and MeeMee during 2008, but I'm sure that is only the start of what the Lord has for us. I love my Family with all I have in me.
